The fastest way is Send Feedback in PinWindow's menu bar menu — it prefills an email with helpful diagnostics (nothing is sent until you hit Send). Or email [email protected] directly. We usually reply within a few days.
Pinned previews are live captures of the windows you select, so macOS requires the Screen Recording permission. Grant it in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording. Everything stays on your Mac — nothing is recorded to disk or uploaded.
macOS applies the Screen Recording grant only after the app restarts. Use the Restart PinWindow button in the notice, or quit and reopen PinWindow.
That's expected for sandboxed apps. PinWindow opens the Accessibility settings pane and highlights the app in Finder — drag PinWindow into the Accessibility list, or click the + button in the pane and select it. Accessibility is optional; it only powers click-a-preview-to-activate-its-window.
Some windows are marked non-shareable by macOS or their apps — typically credential and login surfaces (for example the Messages sign-in page). These cannot be captured by any screen-capture app and won't appear in selection.
The source window stopped producing frames and is no longer visible on screen — usually it was minimized or hidden. The preview keeps the last frame and resumes automatically when the window is visible again. A window whose content simply isn't changing stays live and shows no pause icon.
Press Esc or right-click anywhere while the crosshair is active.
Each preview belongs to the desktop Space where it was created. Switch back to that Space to see it, or use standard macOS window management to move the preview to another Space. You can also re-show any preview from the menu bar's pinned-window list.
Click-through mode is on for that preview. Turn it off from the preview's indicator controls or from the menu bar > pinned window > Click Through.
No — by design, pinned previews are not restored after a restart. Pin windows fresh when you need them.
Open Settings from the menu bar icon and record a new shortcut. The default is Control + Option + P, and you can choose whether it starts crosshair selection or opens the window list.
